There is a definite path of progress that occurs as one ages, even so that in the very old there is at least a certain degree of enlightenment that can be seen. This natural process has been gently propelling all of life life forward, transforming from base matter into the spiritual gold, from “In the beginning”.
But this natural process leaves little time for the fully conscious to be actively involved IN the process – death shortly overtaking the conscious Man before much impact can be had.
The ancients eventually realised there was a way to walk this path of consciousness before old age, and the methods they discovered became the initiatic traditions in the West (and the East) that some of us know today.
Having walked 40 odd years on this path of initiation I have come to see that there are indeed two universal forces, pervading all of life. They are the Isis and Nephthys of Nature, or so I personify them. We can see them demonstrated in the right handed DNA twining around the left handed protein; in leaping in the air voluntarily, and falling back down involuntarily; in the relationship between the fast predator and the faster prey; in the dark of the night showing forth the brightness of the day. These two forces, Isis and Nephthys, are the engine room behind life and evolution. This engine has been idling away forever without the need for maintenance, giving just enough background energy to nurture life, and for life to evolve to where we see it today in its multifarious forms.
Then, perhaps 50,000 years ago, a tipping point was reached in this evolution and life became aware, able to see, and humans (as the ‘aware’ aspect of life) from this junction forward have had the immense potential for good or for evil, the greatest of responsibilities.
Good if the contending forces remain in harmony, so that this knowledge of DUALITY paves the way to the realisation of UNITY, the Summum Bonum, through a TRINITY of forces (as shown by the three paths on the middle pillar on the Tree of Life).
But evil if that knowledge is superficial and the dual forces are tinkered with unconsciously, and they then become unbalanced within the individual without the balancing influence of the THIRD force. General human society has its fair share of these train wrecks to be seen. The occult fora is littered with them. Too much knowledge in the hands of a child can be dangerous indeed!
Seeing life through the clear lens of unity, instead of the blurry vision of unbalanced duality, is then the purpose of life, for to do so, simply watching life unfold without the constant chattering and judging of the ego to distort the view, is to create as does a god; it is to be more than human.
Initiation awakens this third force, and the student nurtures it “in darkness and obscurity’ during their progress. If Aima (Yod) and Abba (Heh) are the two contending universal forces, and mankind representing all of life is the Microposopus, the junction and the link (Vau), then the sleeping beauty Malkah is the third force (Heh), the Shekinah (Spirit) in waiting for her Groom.
Or even more succinctly from my Initiator –
“The Soul is eternal, so only needs awakening, not ‘teaching’. It is only by habit that we think we can progress on ‘information’.” Fiat Lux 7=4
So then, all of the techniques that the Order teaches – the Meditations, Tarot, Astrology, Tatwas, Enochian, Evocation – is for this sole purpose. To gently awaken Malkah from her slumber so that the Shekinah inhabits creation.
